       We’re Hiring! – Associate Director of Catechetics and Faith Development – Westman and Parkland Deaneries Archdiocese of Winnipeg – The Archdiocese of Winnipeg is seeking for an Associate Director of Catechetics and Faith Development for Westman and Parkland Deaneries who will be responsible for the promotion, coordination, and support Catechetical and Sacramental Preparation programs for the parishes, missions, First Nation communities, and families of the Westman and Parkland Deaneries of the Archdiocese of Winnipeg. The Associate Director will be working under the general supervision of the Archdiocesan Director of Catechetics and Faith Development. Public Way of the Cross Goes Virtual Winnipeg, Manitoba – Due to the blizzard warnings that the province of Manitoba experienced last week, the Office of Youth and Young Adult Ministry along with St. Nicholas Tavelich Parish made the difficult decision to cancel the outdoor Public Way of the Cross procession. In a short amount of time, the groups were able to put together a virtual version that premiered on YouTube on Good Friday, April 15, 2022. Click here to view the video. It was also announced that Our Lady of Victory Memorial Parish will host the 34th Annual Public Way of the Cross next Good Friday, April 7, 2023. Mourning a tragedy in Mariupol Mariupol, Ukraine – “With Mariupol, Ukraine, just starting to become accessible, news emerged yesterday of a devastating tank attack on the Caritas centre there, on March 15, 2022. Seven people, including two staff members [of Caritas], are known to have lost their lives and the building has sustained significant damage. Strongly condemning this latest atrocity, Carl HĂ©tu, executive director of Development and Peace ― Caritas Canada, said, “We are united in sorrow with the entire Caritas family. Our grief and outrage only strengthen our conviction in peace and redouble our solidarity with the Ukrainian people.”” Read the full statement from Development and Peace – Caritas Canada. Rossbrook House hired new Executive Director Winnipeg, Manitoba – Rossbrook House Board of Directors is thrilled to announce the hiring of Patricia Mainville as the incoming Executive Director of both Rossbrook House and the Rossbrook House Foundation. Pat begins her tenure as Executive Director on September 6, 2022, alongside outgoing Executive Director Phil Chiappetta, who will officially retire at the end of September. The lists of options are available at bit.ly/2022Banners…. Each banner is 4′ by 8′ and made of very durable fabric to last years outside, even in our weather!
Please display your existing or new banner(s) on your parish lawn or building for one week after Mother’s Day – the full week of the NWLF. The cost of the banner depends on how many orders are placed. Please consider budgeting $200 for this life-affirming banner that will last. Messages in French and other languages can be accommodated.        Listening to Indigenous Voices – April 20, 2022 Please join us in a journey to learn Indigenous history through the voices of the Indigenous peoples. We consider this a preliminary step in entering into a true reconciliation effort. There are 7 hour and a half sessions. Participants will have a workbook from which to read and reflect in preparation for each session. The sessions will be in the form of sharing circles where respectful listening and dialogue can occur. We will begin on Wednesday, April 20th at 7:00 pm. Caritas Virtual Award Dinner in Support of the Catholic Foundation of Manitoba – April 21, 2022 Every year, the Catholic Foundation of Manitoba hosts the Caritas Award Dinner that aims to recognize individuals or organizations who have made outstanding contributions to the well-being of the citizens of the Province of Manitoba, to the Catholic community, or provided exceptional service that support Catholic values, works and causes. Screen time and electronics use have been one of the biggest changes in the past few decades. Children and youth are using screens at an alarming and increasing rate, and many parents, caregivers, and helping professionals are faced with struggles disconnecting them from their devices. This workshop provides an overview of how screen time impacts the developing brain, how it impacts peer and attachment relationships, how parent/caregiver screen behaviour impacts attachment, what healthy screen time use looks like, what are concrete strategies to set parameters around screens, and ways to re-connect with the children in our care.
